Quaker Oats announced on Friday that they are recalling a number of granola bars and granola cereals sold nationwide in the United States due to potential salmonella contamination, a bacteria that poses a risk of severe illness and even death.

Click here for the full list of recalled products, distributed in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Saipan, according to Quaker Oats. The company assures that no other Quaker products are affected.

Salmonella can cause serious illness if it enters the bloodstream, especially in young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. CDC data indicates that this organism causes approximately 1.3 million infections in Americans each year, resulting in an average of over 26,000 hospitalizations and 420 deaths.

Infections typically manifest within 12 hours to three days after consuming contaminated food and include symptoms such as diarrhea, fever, nausea, and abdominal pain.

Quaker, a subsidiary of the beverage and snack giant PepsiCo, stated that they have not received any confirmed reports of illness related to the consumption of the recalled products. The company has informed the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) about the recall.
